Transportation ServicesCommunity TransportationCommunity Transportation provides medical and general transportation to residents of Darke County. Transportation is available to anywhere in Darke County with a 24 hour advance reservation. Transportation is provided out of county locations such as Dayton, Troy, Richmond, Columbus, Cincinnati and many more locations with a 48 hour notice. We utilize full mobility equipment accessible vehicles. Trips can be made for work, shopping, medical, school or any transportation need. Tokens can be purchased for rides. General TransportationThe Senior Assistance Project offers transportation for persons age 60 or over to congregate meal sites, medical facilities, social service agencies, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices. Persons are eligible if they have no other means of transportation through family, friends or self. Transportation must be scheduled 24 hours in advance by contacting the Senior Lifeline at (937) 548-2727. If the Senior Assistance Project is unable to provide the requested transportation, the Information and Referral Specialist will work with the client by referring he or she to other appropriate programs or agencies. The suggested donation for medical transportation is $2 per round trip. Senior Medical TransportationMedical transportation is provided for persons age 60 or over who have no assistance from family or friends and cannot book transportation through any other program or agency in Darke County. The program seeks to “fill the gap” for persons who otherwise may not be able to receive necessary medical treatment due to lack to transportation to a medical facility. Senior Medical Transportation is provided on an on-call basis and donations are accepted. Twenty-four hour notice is preferred. To maker an appointment, call the Senior Lifeline at (937) 548-2727.
