Offered in cooperation with the Community Senior Citizens Center at 1469 Sweitzer Street in Greenville, the Senior Assistance Project offers a variety of activities for persons age 55 and over. Effective Jan. 1, 2013, Community Action Partnership is no longer providing the Senior Nutrition Program in Darke County. Services are provided by the Senior Resource Connection.
We are grateful that we were able to provide this service for seniors for many years. We wish Senior Resource Connection well as they offer this important program.
General Transportation for Seniors
The Senior Assistance Project offers transportation for persons age 60 or over for essential trips to medical facilities, social service agencies, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices. Persons are eligible if they have no other means of transportation through family, friends or self. Transportation must be scheduled 24 hours in advance by calling (937) 547-9129. Suggested donation is $3. If the Senior Assistance Project is unable to provide the requested transportation, the Information and Referral Specialist will work with the customer by referring him or her to other appropriate programs or agencies.
Senior Medical Transportation
Medical transportation is provided for persons age 60 or over who have no assistance from family or friends and cannot book transportation through any other program or agency in Darke County. The program seeks to “fill the gap” for persons who otherwise may not be able to receive necessary medical treatment due to lack to transportation to a medical facility.
Senior Medical Transportation is provided on an on-call basis and donations are accepted. Twenty-four hour notice is preferred. This service is provided on a donation basis and can be booked at (937) 547-9129. Suggested donation is $3.
